Mexico participates in COP29 on Climate Change / @SRE_mx >>>

#SRE.- The Mexican delegation will participate in the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), to be held from November 11-22 in Baku, Azerbaijan, with the aim of strengthening global climate action through international cooperation and climate finance.

The Government of Mexico will promote the humanist ecological and environmental policy promoted by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, which seeks to guarantee the right to a healthy environment and environmental justice, as well as strengthen the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) to be submitted in 2025 to reduce global warming.

Mexico recognizes that climate change is one of the most pressing development challenges, making ambitious and socially responsible climate action imperative, based on the principle of environmental justice and compliance with international commitments adopted by States, recognizing the principle of common but differentiated responsibilities.

During COP29, the Mexican delegation will reaffirm its conviction with sustainable development that prioritizes the care of the environment and natural resources, promoting the social participation of the most vulnerable groups in terms of adaptation and mitigation to climate change.

Under the slogan “Solidarity for a green world,” COP29 will bring together more than 50,000 delegates, including government representatives, diplomatic personnel, specialized scientists, civil society, academia and representatives of indigenous peoples.

The Mexican delegation will include a plural participation of officials from the Federal Government, state and municipal governments, members of Congress, as well as members of civil society and the private sector.

The Government of Mexico reaffirms its commitment to strengthen global climate action based on environmental justice to address the adverse effects of climate change.
