SICT advances in the recovery of the Acatzingo-Ciudad Mendoza stretch, Cumbres de Maltrata zone / @SICT_mx >>>
#SICT.- The Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT) reports that, to date, 30 percent of the estimated volume of the landslide that occurred in the Acatzingo-Ciudad Mendoza section has been removed, equivalent to approximately 60 thousand cubic meters, so it is estimated to reach 85 thousand cubic meters in the coming days.
The SICT is working in coordination with Caminos y Puentes Federales (CAPUFE), in a first stage, to open a provisional road.
In a second stage, rainwater runoff will be addressed, as well as containment of material and the exposed face of the hill (in drainage areas, ditches, counter-ditches, etc. for almost one kilometer).
It should be noted that almost fifty people work at the site, from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., depending on visibility and fog conditions. It is important to consider that there is only one access road.
Six backhoes, four more (two with picks and two with boats), two bulldozers, 16 boxes (trucks) of 14 cubic meters, a 40-ton articulated truck, as well as tools and minor equipment are used.
To stabilize the fault, work is being carried out on three fronts. Studies and borings have been made (six), with perforations at 25 and 35 meters, which will allow the opening of two lanes. The removal of material will continue.
