The plenary session of the Senate of the Republic ratified the appointments of the three Undersecretaries of Foreign Affairs / @SRE_mx >>>

#SRE.- By majority vote, the full Senate of the Republic today approved the ratification of the Undersecretaries of Foreign Affairs proposed by the Federal Executive, who were sworn in.

The Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs, María Teresa Mercado Pérez; for Latin America and the Caribbean, Raquel Serur Smeke, and for Multilateral Affairs and Human Rights, Enrique Javier Ochoa Martínez, highlighted in their work plans that they will work to strengthen the defense of national sovereignty and the protection of Mexican nationals abroad.

In the previous session of the Foreign Affairs Commission, chaired by legislator Alejandro Murat Hinojosa, the Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs, María Teresa Mercado Pérez, committed to strengthen and diversify political and commercial relations with the 161 countries of Africa, Central Asia, the Middle East, Asia-Pacific and Europe, based on the defense of national sovereignty and the interests of the Mexican community abroad.

She indicated that she will strengthen diplomatic action and prioritize strategic relations, reaffirming Mexico’s commitment to international peace and security, as well as promoting a Feminist Foreign Policy, implementing a gender perspective at the domestic, bilateral, regional and multilateral levels.

The Undersecretary for Latin America and the Caribbean, Raquel Serur Smeke, reaffirmed Mexico’s commitment to integration and cooperation to face common challenges under Mexican humanism, the moral economy model and the policy promoted by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.

Its strategy will be based on constitutional principles and Mexico’s diplomatic traditions, such as peace building, humanitarian aid and protection of persecuted people, all in strict adherence to international law.
