Matias Romero Institute celebrates its 50th anniversary as a benchmark in international diplomacy / @SRE_mx >>>

#SRE.- These are times for Mexico to deploy the best consular diplomacy that allows us, as priority and unpostponable tasks, the protection of Mexicans abroad and, particularly in the United States, strengthening the mechanisms of consular support and assistance, said today the Foreign Minister Juan Ramón de la Fuente, leading the ceremony of the 50th anniversary of the Matías Romero Institute.

Before authorities, legislators, diplomats and former directors of this Institute, he called to follow the leadership example of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo who, with determination and vision, promotes a vocation of service that places people at the center of every action, so Mexican diplomacy has to be immersed in this philosophy, he said.

Referring to the ethical sense of the actions undertaken at the time by Mexican diplomats Matías Romero Avendaño and Gilberto Bosques Saldívar, to whose families he presented awards, Chancellor De la Fuente emphasized that ethics is an imperative of authority and true competence in diplomatic work.

“To ethics as a philosophical framework of our individual and collective conduct. To ethics as an imperative of authority and true competence in diplomatic work. To ethics as an inescapable commitment to public service. Ethics as an evaluation mechanism for promotion and permanence in the diplomatic service. Rigorous ethics as a counterweight to diplomacy that exhausts itself in undeserved praise and frivolous reception,” he said.
