#SRE.- Mexico and Italy celebrated the 150th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and, with the purpose of strengthening high-level political dialogue, the Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs, María Teresa Mercado Pérez, met with Giorgio Silli, Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
During the meeting, they agreed on the good moment in relations between both countries and the shared will to stimulate high-level political dialogue, as well as to examine the possibility of Mexico hosting the VI Meeting of the Binational Commission next year.
They also agreed to expand economic exchanges and investments in strategic sectors and deepen cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
As part of her working visit to Rome on the 18th and 19th of this month, the Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs held a meeting in the Italian Senate with legislators who are members of the Mexico-Italy Parliamentary Friendship Group, to whom she reiterated the value Mexico attaches to parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening bilateral ties.
Undersecretary Mercado Perez also met with members of the Mexico-Italy Chamber (Camexital), who work to promote business between the two countries, as well as with representatives of the Mexican community established in Italy.
She greeted the Mexican diplomatic staff accredited in the Italian capital, whom she thanked for their work for our country, entrusting them to redouble their efforts to achieve the foreign policy priorities established by Foreign Minister Juan Ramón de la Fuente.
