Before President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo and the Secretary of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport (SICT), Jesús Antonio Esteva Medina, he highlighted that the following routes to start construction will be the Mexico-Querétaro, in April; Querétaro-Irapuato and Saltillo-Nuevo Laredo, both to begin in July of this 2025.
In a press conference at the National Palace, the federal official presented the progress of the Railway Plan for the construction of passenger trains, which, he explained, will provide interurban and regional services with dedicated tracks that will run at maximum speeds of 160 to 200 kilometers per hour and will have main and secondary stations (stops).
The rail projects will generate economic spillover with the construction of tracks; connectivity between cities, communities and metropolises; reduction of congestion on highways and accesses to large cities; faster and more punctual trips.
As well as greater safety in transfers; reduction of carbon footprint with a collective and clean transportation, and better travel experience and comfort.
In reference to the Lechería-AIFA Suburban Train, which is already 80 percent complete, he explained that the work is being carried out jointly with the Ministry of National Defense. The route will allow passengers to travel from Buenavista to the Felipe Ángeles International Airport in 39 minutes.
