#EstadoDeJalisco.- In order to address strategies for the care of minors who work in the tourist area of the Chapala Riverbank, the Jalisco Attorney General’s Office for the Protection of Children and Adolescents (PPNNA) held a working group with its Institutional Delegations in the municipalities of Chapala and Poncitlán.
Sandra Paola Trelles Rivas, head of the Jalisco Attorney General’s Office (PPNNA), stated that for years there has been a constant presence of children and adolescents from Poncitlán, who work primarily on the Chapala boardwalk.
Therefore, there will be coordination to discourage all forms of child labor, as well as guarantee the protection and restoration of the rights of this population.
«There were several agreements between the Attorney General’s Office, the Poncitlán delegation, and the Chapala delegation; «Especially in the area of prevention, what we saw was addressing not only emergencies, but also the importance of prevention action lines,» she stated.
Trelles Rivas added that during the working group, the operations of both Institutional Delegations were analyzed and it was agreed to provide training for staff, especially for those who recently joined their interdisciplinary teams in the legal, psychological, and social work areas.
She also emphasized that the presence of minors performing work activities or begging for money must be addressed through preventive measures, with joint actions by governments and families.
The working group was also attended by Erika Torres Herrera, President of DIF Chapala; María Cristina Sánchez Sánchez, President of DIF Poncitlán; and León Delgadillo Rosas, Deputy Director General of Operations of the DIF Jalisco System.
