Call to build peace for the benefit of women’s security and economy / @SE_mx >>>

#SE.- Due to the fact that violence affects women to a greater degree -both in terms of their personal safety and in economic terms- it is necessary to support and redouble the efforts with a gender focus carried out by the federal government and other actors in the country in order to build peace.

Representatives of the federal government, representatives of civil organizations, activists and federal deputies who participated this Friday in the forum “Women Peace Builders: the Road to Disarmament”, held at the Ministry of Economy, agreed.

On behalf of Secretary Marcelo Ebrard, the Undersecretary of Industry and Commerce, Vidal Llerenas, welcomed the forum and highlighted the agenda in favor of equality and equity promoted by the Ministry of Economy.

Leticia Bonifaz, professor at the School of Law and researcher at UNAM’s Institute of Legal Research, pointed out that violence has more pernicious effects on women than on men.

For her part, Anabel López Sánchez, General Director of Prevention Policies of the Women’s Secretariat, explained that the Women Peace Builders Network Strategy is being promoted, the objective of which is to establish citizen networks of women that allow them to cooperate with government agencies in the prevention of gender violence.

“The capacity building aimed at the Networks focuses on training on gender perspective, violence against women, peace building in the community and economic autonomy,” said Lopez Sanchez.
