«We must be very proud of our history, of the dignity of the people, and of the resistance of indigenous peoples»: President / @Claudiashein @GobiernoMX >>>
#GobiernoDeMéxico.- President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo asserted that the Fourth Transformation of public life has restored pride in what Mexico represents, its history, its dignity, and the resilience of its Indigenous and Afro-Mexican peoples and communities, contrary to what happened during the neoliberal period.
“They weren’t proud of their people, their history, or their culture. That’s what happened with the presidents of neoliberalism: they never admired Mexico; they always looked to the example outside of Mexico, they admired the north. It’s fine to admire other peoples and other countries, but there are no two like Mexico. And we must be very proud of our history, of the dignity of the people, of the resilience of Indigenous peoples, of what Mexico represents. We are a great, extraordinary country,” she emphasized during the morning press conference, “Las mañaneras del pueblo” (The People’s Morning Press Conference).
She emphasized that the people of Mexico and their indigenous cultures, which are unique in the world, give strength to the movement for national transformation; therefore, being Mexican is a source of pride.
“The important thing is that there are people, there are many people, and that is what gives us strength. It’s not just the President, it’s this Transformation movement, which has not only been important in the country but is now recognized throughout the world,” he added.
In response, he reiterated that the Fourth Transformation reclaims what Mexico is: its physical and moral strength, and its values.
