#SECTUR.- Mexican Secretary of Tourism Josefina Rodríguez Zamora reported that in the first two months of the year, foreign currency income from international visitors amounted to $6.601 billion, 4.5 percent more than the same period in 2024.

According to the results of the International Traveler Survey published by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), she stated that this also represents a 45.9 percent increase compared to 2019.

The head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) commented that, with this, tourism growth strengthens the national economy and boosts the employment rate generated by this service sector, which in turn improves the quality of life of resident communities, thanks to the Shared Prosperity approach promoted by the current administration.

He added that during January-February 2025, 7.7 million international tourists entered the country, 8.2 percent more than the same period in 2024 and 11.8 percent more than in 2019.

Furthermore, he highlighted that in the first two months of the year, 15.4 million international visitors arrived in the country, representing a 15 percent increase compared to 2024.

He also stated that foreign currency income from international tourists also increased year-on-year, reaching $6,077.4 million in the first two months of 2025, 2.8 percent and 46.4 percent more than the figures collected in 2024 and 2019, respectively.
