Nuevo León is the national leader in Participation Spaces / @nuevoleon >>>
#NuevoLeón.- For the second consecutive year, the State reaffirmed its leadership by topping the INEGI ranking, with 1,297 participatory spaces, almost 1,000 more than the second-place ranking.
Participatory spaces are mechanisms or platforms where people can propose solutions, raise their voices, transform their environment, and directly influence the development of public policies.
These spaces allow citizens to express their opinions, decide, and collaborate with other individuals, civil associations, and the government to solve public problems.
Some examples of participatory spaces include improvement boards, citizen councils, public consultations, participatory budgets, and community forums.
Technological tools, such as the 070 platform, are also included.
In 2021, Governor Samuel García created Mexico’s first Secretariat of Citizen Participation, headed by Secretary Daniel Acosta Fregoso.
The Secretariat has created and strengthened hundreds of participatory spaces on key issues such as health, the environment, urban development, and social justice.
An example of the results of these spaces in Nuevo León is the Citizen Park. A former parking lot, thanks to citizen participation, is now being built into a public space tailored to the needs of residents.
Under the current state administration, Nuevo León rose from sixth place in participation to first place nationwide.
