#EstadoDeMéxico.- To provide care and integration for people with disabilities, the Government of the State of Mexico, through the System for Comprehensive Family Development (DIFEM), inaugurated the Multisensory Stimulation Center (CEMS) in the municipality of Tlatlaya, benefiting more than 180 children.
This Center, the second operating in the southern part of the state, serves people with intellectual, physical, or sensory disabilities, as well as pathologies, developmental disorders, neurological damage, and genetic disorders. It also provides early stimulation services to infants and children.
The space is equipped with interactive tubes, mirrors, fiber optics, an image projector, an interactive panel, aromatherapy, ultraviolet light, tactile elements, and music, which together create an environment of controlled stimuli where sensations are addressed.
In this setting, patients have the freedom to explore, discover, and enjoy diverse sensory experiences, which achieve therapeutic objectives such as promoting interaction, development, and communication. Improve patients’ mental and physical conditions and awaken their sensory-perceptive abilities.
Some of the conditions treated at the Stimulation Centers include Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and hearing disorders, among others.
This new CEMS operates in the Basic Rehabilitation and Social Integration Unit of the Tlatlaya Municipal DIF System, located in the community of San Pedro Limón. The other Center is located in the Palmar Chico area of Tejupilco.
