#Tlalnepantla, #Edoméx.- For generations, Holy Saturday has become synonymous with celebration and water games such as balloons, buckets, and hoses, which are part of a popular tradition. However, given the nationwide shortage of water, the OPDM is calling for people to avoid wasting this resource.
The head of the Decentralized Public Agency for the Provision of Drinking Water, Sewerage, and Sanitation Services of Tlalnepantla, Alberto Valdés Rodríguez, indicated that they are promoting awareness-raising actions aimed at fostering a culture of conservation and efficient use of water.
Therefore, he urged families in the municipality to join in the conservation of water, especially during holidays, when consumption can increase.
«Every drop counts; this vacation period is an opportunity to strengthen our commitment to the environment, avoid unnecessary penalties, and ensure the availability of water for future generations,» he said.
The official noted that the waste or improper use of water is classified as an administrative offense under the Civic Justice Law of the State of Mexico and its Municipalities.
This regulation establishes in Article 63, Section IX that the following constitutes an infraction: «Wasting or misusing water, whether in excessive or disproportionate quantities, or allowing it to spill anywhere without any appropriate use, as well as preventing its use by those who should have access to it in pipes, tanks, or storage tanks.»
These actions can be punished with fines of 40 to 60 times the Unit of Measurement and Update (UMA), arrest for 18 to 24 hours, or community service for 12 to 18 hours, as determined by the corresponding authority.
