#Tlalnepantla, #Edoméx.- Pork in mole verde, white rice with corn and black beans and lemon water with cucumber were the delicious food that the residents of the Isidro Fabela neighbourhood enjoyed during the inauguration of the second Cocina del Bienestar, which was opened so that more people can have access to balanced meals at a low cost.

Before sharing bread and salt with the neighbours, Municipal President Raciel Pérez Cruz indicated that the Cocina del Bienestar programme contributes to the second UN Sustainable Development Goal «Zero Hunger».

He argued that these kitchens aim to provide a space where citizens can have breakfast and/or lunch for only 15 pesos, food that is made with high quality products.

«We have to move forward on equity and inclusion, we recognise that there are still many lags and precisely the Wellness Kitchen has to do with this situation that exists with respect to the maintenance of a person,» she said.

Accompanied by the Regional Coordinator of the Welfare Secretariat of the state government Lilian Rodríguez Soto, Pérez Cruz said that Tlalnepantla joins the social policy implemented since the government of former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and which has been deepened by Dr. Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo to address the root of people’s problems.

«Here in Our City, on a bimonthly basis 80 thousand older adults, access their constitutional right that for January this year ranges between 6 thousand pesos and from the municipal government we will also be supporting them to raise their quality of life,» she said.

The head of the Municipal Welfare Department, Jezabel Delgado, said that during the neoliberal model that existed for several years in the country, inequality gaps were created and the level of poverty, including food poverty, increased.
