Cuautitlán will implement a helpline for pregnant teenagers / @Juanita_Carri @AyytoCuautitlan >>>

#Cuautitlán, #Edoméx.- With the goal of strengthening prevention and care efforts for teenage pregnancy, the municipal government of Cuautitlán, led by President Juanita Carrillo, announced the creation of a telephone hotline for specialized support, guidance, and assistance for adolescents facing this situation.

During the most recent session of the Municipal Group for the Prevention of Teenage Pregnancy (GEMPEA), the mayor highlighted the need to create safe and accessible environments so that adolescents can receive comprehensive support. As part of the strategy, banners with the hotline number will be placed outside middle and high schools in the municipality.

Data presented during the session, based on figures from the State Population Council, reveal that in the State of Mexico, 55.42% of adolescent mothers only have a secondary education, and that in 49.24% of cases, their partners are over 20 years old, which could imply contexts of inequality or violence. In more than a quarter of cases, the age of the partner is not revealed, which also raises red flags.

Juanita Carrillo pointed out that this initiative is being implemented within the framework of the General Law on the Rights of Girls, Boys, and Adolescents, as well as the Law on Women’s Access to a Life Free of Violence, and includes two main pillars: the prevention of teenage pregnancy and medical, psychological, and legal care during pregnancy and motherhood.

The mayor reiterated that institutional support is essential to protecting the rights of girls and adolescents, guaranteeing their full development and access to health and counseling services.
