#SECTUR.- Mexican Secretary of Tourism Josefina Rodríguez Zamora presented the results of the second most successful Tourism Fair in 50 years, which earned a Guinness World Record for the largest attendance at a tourism fair in our country.

«The 49th edition was historic, as for the first time Mexico and the United States strengthened their tourism and trade relations. It was inclusive, transformed lives, and brought Shared Prosperity to Baja Californians,» she stated.

Rodríguez Zamora reported that the fair for all was attended by 8,781 people from 46 countries, who closed deals with 3,957 exhibitors, 1,187 companies, and 1,773 buyers, 69 percent of whom came from the United States and Canada.

The head of the Ministry of Tourism stated that, with the participation of the country’s 32 states, 71,882 business meetings were held, 50 percent of which resulted in sales.

«It is the most digitally valued Tianguis Turístico in history, with a reach of more than 64 million unique accounts,» she noted.

She also praised the benefits that the largest tourism event in the Americas brought to the host state, such as the generation of an economic impact of 1.38 billion pesos, hotel occupancy exceeding 90 percent, and the event’s consolidation as the edition with the highest overnight stay in history.

«What better place than Baja California, the state where the nation begins, to send this message to the world: Mexico is in fashion,» she declared.

She also stated that the tourism segments most sought after by buyers were: sun, beach, and cruises (36 percent); cultural (33 percent); nature (23 percent); Adventure (22 percent); social (22 percent); and culinary (16 percent), among others.
