#EstadoDeMéxico.- The State of Mexico’s Ministry of Health reaffirms its commitment to the well-being of pregnant women and their babies, promoting care during pregnancy, which is essential for identifying and modifying biomedical risks and achieving favorable perinatal outcomes.

Pregnant women should attend all medical appointments, follow all prescriptions for supplements and vaccines, and avoid alcohol and tobacco use.

Folic acid intake is essential to provide nutrients to the developing baby, and the baby’s development should be assessed through ultrasound.

In the context of National Maternal and Perinatal Health Day (May 9), the state agency emphasized that, if you have any underlying medical conditions, you should undergo periodic physical and clinical exams.

The State of Mexico’s Ministry of Health specified that during the first 40 days after birth, it is recommended to engage in light physical activity, such as walking, eating three meals a day and drinking plenty of fluids, checking for genital bleeding, and maintaining proper hygiene in the area.

Other recommendations include attending a postpartum checkup at 7 and 30 days after delivery, avoiding stairs or lifting heavy objects, and following your doctor’s recommendations.

For newborns, it is recommended to attend follow-up medical appointments, receive vaccinations according to the national vaccination schedule, and ensure exclusive breastfeeding for the first 6 months of life and supplemental breastfeeding until the age of two.
