#NuevoLeón.- To strengthen the trade relationship between Nuevo León and Texas, as well as explore investment and economic collaboration opportunities, Governor Samuel Alejandro García Sepúlveda held a meeting with the South Texas Cities Alliance.
During the meeting, held in the Juárez Room and attended by Brownsville Mayor John Cowen; Laredo Mayor Victor Treviño; San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg; Sherry Dowlatshahi of the San Antonio Economic Development Department; and Melissa A. Bishop, the U.S. Consul General in Monterrey, the governor emphasized that they have many common areas and opportunities, such as the Colombian Customs Office and the new Colombia Highway, which now triples the number of crossings.
Also present were Emmanuel Loo, Head of the Ministry of Economy; Marco Antonio González Valdez, Secretary of Regional and Agricultural Development; and Maricarmen Martínez Villarreal, Secretary of Tourism.
“We are very happy here at the Palace to receive a very important delegation, an alliance of mayors from South Texas. Today we are joined by the mayor of Brownsville, the mayor of San Antonio, and our dear friend from Laredo. We are very happy because we have a lot in common: trade, the Colombia Bridge, many connected companies on both sides, first place in exports, and now we’re even talking about the FIFA World Cup next year.”
“New projects are coming; we have two and a half years of government left, and that customs office, which is currently the most secure, will also be the most important,” the Governor of Nuevo León emphasized.
The mayor of Laredo also said he was proud to come to Nuevo León and be able to collaborate as a team. He emphasized that they have a close relationship, and that all the projects that have been carried out coincide through the Colombia Bridge.
