#Veracruz, #Ver.- In the framework of World Environment Day, Governor Rocío Nahle García presented the state program «Green Lungs for Veracruz,» a comprehensive reforestation and environmental protection initiative for the 30 Natural Protected Areas (NPAs).
«The program covers all Natural Protected Areas. Regardless of the cost or time it takes, each one will have its own forest ranger and a vehicle for surveillance,» she stated.
In addition, the program includes reforestation actions linked to bodies of water, urban areas, and areas affected by forest fires, with the goal of building greener and healthier cities.
It also includes promoting regenerative livestock farming, soil restoration, and the promotion of productive conservation through shade crops.
To strengthen environmental protection, community nurseries will be developed and technology such as drones will be used for seed dispersal.
“We chose this location to make the announcement because it requires joint planning with the ejido communities and the various levels of government,” he emphasized.
He reported that through the Secretariat of Infrastructure and Public Works, tires collected in various municipalities are recycled for use as material in road rehabilitation, thus adding a circular economy initiative to the environmental agenda.
As part of the event, he carried out the symbolic delivery of one of the 50,000 specimens of endemic species—including fir, white pine, chamaite pine, volcano pine, teocote pine, black pine, Colorado pine, juniper, and cypress—that will be planted in different ejidos in the region.
He also donated 10 vehicle units to the State Attorney General’s Office for Environmental Protection (PMA) to strengthen surveillance of the ANPs, and the community nursery in the Toxtlacuaya ejido was inaugurated.
