GEM establishes “Safe Path” with lighting and cleanup work in Ecatepec

To improve the urban environment in the municipality of Ecatepec and guarantee the safety of its residents, the State of Mexico government established a «Safe Path» in the Potrero Chico neighborhood, where 210 streetlights were installed and complementary work such as garbage collection and bush pruning was carried out.

This initiative is part of the Comprehensive Rescue Plan for the Eastern Zone of the State of Mexico, promoted by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo and Governor Delfina Gómez Álvarez, to provide greater safety and security to the area’s residents.

Daniel Sibaja González, Secretary of Mobility, indicated that this is a joint effort between the three levels of government and the participation of residents, who worked to comprehensively recover this public space.

He indicated that after decades of neglect by previous administrations, where there was no support for infrastructure, today the streets look different and citizens can walk more safely.

He stated that the goal is to reclaim streets, gardens, parks, and recreational spaces and make safety a right, not a privilege.

To improve road safety, curbs, speed bumps, and pedestrian crossings were marked, and weeds were cleared in parks and medians.

These actions improve community safety and fulfill the commitment to work together to improve the quality of life of the people of the State of Mexico.
