Mexican government launches mechanism to denounce imports of goods produced with forced or compulsory labor / @m_ebrard @SE_mx >>>

#SecretaryOf Economy#México.- The Government of Mexico, through the Ministries of Labor and Social Welfare (STPS) and Economy (SE), informs that today the STPS section of the Mexican Digital Window for Foreign Trade (VUCEM) begins operating to receive requests to initiate the Mechanism to Restrict the Importation of Goods Produced with Forced or Compulsory Labor, Including Forced Child Labor.

Thus, all requests for investigation that individuals wish to submit may be made through the VUCEM (https://www.ventanillaunica.gob.mx/vucem/index.html), in which the Ministry of Labor will initiate the procedure for the determination of the existence or not of these forms of labor, which will be implemented in accordance with the Agreement that establishes the goods whose importation is subject to regulation by the STPS, published in the Official Gazette of the Federation on February 17, 2023.

This mechanism responds to the commitment assumed by the Government of Mexico as a Party to the Treaty between Mexico, the United States and Canada (T-MEC), which in Article 23.6 of the Labor Chapter establishes the objective of the Parties to eliminate all forms of forced or compulsory labor, including forced or compulsory child labor. In this way they agreed to prohibit the importation of goods into their territories, produced in whole or in part by these illegal employment practices.
