The National Rehabilitation Institute improves surgical capacity with outpatient surgeries / @SSalud_mx

#SecretaríaDeSalud#México.– The National Rehabilitation Institute “Luis Guillermo Ibarra Ibarra” (INRLGII) of the Ministry of Health consolidated its Saturday outpatient surgery program as part of an operational innovation strategy for the benefit of its patients.

The program, whose pilot phase was developed between October and November 2024 in the Hand Surgery Service, has proven to be an effective alternative to expand surgical capacity without requiring extraordinary investments. Its success has allowed it to be extended to other specialties such as Traumatology, Pediatric Orthopedics, Spine Surgery, Ophthalmology and Bone Tumors.

The General Director of INRLGII, Carlos Pineda Villaseñor, explained that this strategy is part of a comprehensive effort to modernize the Institute’s operation and respond to current challenges: «The pandemic and the aging population have forced us to rethink the traditional surgical model. This new approach allows us to reorganize under criteria of efficiency and quality, in line with the vision of the federal health sector».
