#FederalGovernment, #Mexico.- From the Otomi community of Amealco de Bonfil, in Querétaro, President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo led the delivery of 139.9 million pesos (mdp) from the Fund for Contributions for Social Infrastructure for Indigenous and Afro-Mexican Peoples and Communities (FAISPIAM) to 176 indigenous communities in this state.
«It is a profound recognition; it means that not only are the federal, state, and municipal levels of government, but there is a fourth level of government of equal importance, that of the Indigenous and Afro-descendant communities and peoples of Mexico,» she emphasized.
She recalled that it was not until the arrival of the Fourth Transformation that indigenous peoples were recognized as subjects of law with the reform to Article 2 of the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States, which allows them to have a direct budget for basic infrastructure projects, elected in assemblies by the communities themselves.
She highlighted the role of women in the Second Floor of the Fourth Transformation, as they are the treasurers of the Indigenous and Afro-Mexican communities who will administer the FAISPIAM funds for infrastructure projects.
Less than a month before the swearing-in of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN), she highlighted the renewal of the Judiciary, which, through popular vote, allowed for the appointment of an Indigenous Mixtec man, Hugo Aguilar Ortiz, as president of the SCJN.
