#CuautitlánIzcalli, #StateOfMexico.- Following multiple public complaints regarding serious animal cruelty received via social media, a joint operation was successfully mounted in the municipality of Cuautitlán Izcalli. The mission involved the Attorney General’s Office for the State of Mexico (FGJEM), the State Environmental Protection Agency (PROPAEM), the State Commission for Natural Parks and Wildlife (CEPANAF), and the General Commissariat of Citizen Security. This decisive multi-agency effort aimed to secure the urgent rescue and protection of the animals involved in the distressing case.

The swift operation targeted a private residence in the Ex Hacienda San Miguel neighbourhood, after distressing videos and photographs circulated online showing the deplorable, unhygienic conditions in which a number of dogs were being kept. Reports from residents and media suggested that these severely neglectful conditions had persisted for at least five years, creating a sanitary risk for the surrounding community. Thanks to the coordinated response from the three tiers of government, the intervention was rapidly executed and proved successful.

During the intervention, an 18 year old woman granted the authorities access to the property, which significantly streamlined the rescue process. This cooperation allowed for the safe removal of a total of 18 dogs from their conditions of neglect and overcrowding. The animals were immediately transported to the facilities of the State Commission for Natural Parks and Wildlife in Toluca City, where they will receive the necessary veterinary attention and care for their full recovery.

The Municipal Government of Cuautitlán Izcalli has emphatically reaffirmed its commitment to actively collaborate in all initiatives aimed at promoting animal welfare across the municipality. The administration’s core objective is to prevent and eradicate cruelty towards animals, while the competent authorities, led by the FGJEM, will proceed with the relevant investigations to establish and assign the full legal responsibilities in this regrettable case.
