Federal road transport confirmed as major economic engine, generating two million jobs / @SICT_mx >>>
#MinistryOfCommunicationsAndTransportation, #México.- The Undersecretary of Communications and Transport, Tania Carro Toledo, asserted that federal road transport, encompassing both cargo and passenger services, stands as one of the main drivers of the national economy. She emphasised its significant role in the labour market, stating that the sector is responsible for generating over two million direct and indirect jobs across the country. The Undersecretary’s comments underscored the critical function this industry plays in maintaining economic vitality and stability.
Ms Carro Toledo highlighted the indispensable role of the Directorate General of Federal Road Transport (DGAF), through which safety and regulatory actions are promoted and implemented. She stated that these concentrated efforts are specifically focused on improving security and control for both road operators and the wider public. The official affirmed that the importance of federal road transport «lies in being a pillar for trade, tourism, employment, and industry.»
Furthermore, the Undersecretary stressed the sheer scale of the sector’s contribution, noting that it accounts for more than 90 per cent of nationwide passenger mobility and moves 82 per cent of all terrestrial cargo. The sector is «essential because it supplies industry, commerce, and services,» she emphasised. Separately, the Director General of Federal Road Transport, Luis Ruiz Hernández, announced that inspections of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) transport units will soon begin, in coordination with SENER and ASEA.
