New profession for women: plumbing as the key to economic development and water conservation in Edomex / @delfinagomeza @Edomex
#StateOfMéxico, #Mexico.-The Government of the State of Mexico, through the Ministry of Water (Secretaría del Agua), has initiated the «Mujeres Plomeras» (Plumber Women) programme, a vital project aimed at fostering the personal and economic development of women in the region. The central goal is to encourage the active participation of women in the crucial work of water conservation, while equipping them with essential practical skills. This comprehensive approach seeks not only to provide training but also to empower participants, strengthening water management within their own communities and homes.
The programme is specifically tailored for women over 18 and female heads of household, offering thorough and intensive instruction that blends theory and practical application. Participants will acquire proficiency in basic plumbing and comprehensive water education, thereby opening doors to new, socially significant employment prospects. Beneficiaries will be able to generate their own income via a highly demanded trade, which will both enhance the quality of life within their dwellings and promote their financial economic autonomy.
The training encompasses a total duration of 40 hours, covering key modules such as gender equity, fundamental water education, and practical techniques for domestic hydraulic installation and repair. In a tangible show of support for their new ventures, upon completion of the course, participants will be awarded a plumbing tool kit, which is to be collectively distributed to groups composed of three members. Women interested in joining the initiative can view the full prospectus and register online at the official website, https://agua.edomex.gob.mx/mujeres-plomeras, until 10th November.
