#AlcaldíaMiguelHidalgo, #MéxicoCity.- Mauricio Tabe, the Mayor of Miguel Hidalgo, along with Jack Sourasky Olmos, President of CANIRAC (National Chamber of the Restaurant and Seasoned Food Industry), and Sergio Berger, CEO of Cinbersol, unveiled the «Polanco en Luces» initiative. This collaboration between the local government and the private sector marks the festive launch of the Christmas season within the borough. Speaking from the Nelson Mandela cultural space, Tabe highlighted the significant contribution of business owners in re-illuminating and bringing life to the district’s colonies.
The Mayor detailed that the grand switch-on ceremony will take place on 15th November along the iconic Masaryk corridor, aiming to make it «look like never before». The festive illumination, which includes the installation of 50,000 low-consumption LED light points and 250 decorative elements, will remain lit until 6th January. Tabe emphasised that this effort is the «fruit of the initiative of the restaurateurs» and the local business community, including jewellers, who are uniting to bring warmth and light to this crucial street.

During the press conference, Mayor Tabe stressed that the project ensures Polanco and Miguel Hidalgo «shine» by creating warm spaces for people to «walk, enjoy, share with family, and celebrate Christmas». He called upon all local businesses to «decorate their façades with these festive motifs» to enhance the borough’s overall appeal. To streamline the process for those wishing to install decorative structures, permits can be requested via the Mayor’s Office’s Directorate of Government and Legal Affairs, or through CANIRAC and Cinbersol.
Jack Sourasky Olmos of CANIRAC echoed the sentiment, noting the project was born from the desire to have «streets alive and joyful», an idea fully supported by Mayor Tabe. Adding to the excitement, Sergio Berger of Cinbersol announced the placement of a large Christmas tree, between 6 and 8 metres high, on Masaryk. For the jewellers, this «is a celebration of unity, joy, and the Christmas spirit», serving as a way to «give back and thank the community» that they cherish.
