#FederalGovernment#Mexico.- The President, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, has confirmed that the complete route of the Mexico-Toluca Train, «El Insurgente», will be fully operational by late January 2026, running from Toluca, State of Mexico, to the Observatorio station in Mexico City. This significant milestone follows the conclusion of civil and electromechanical works, triggering a crucial three-month testing period that includes essential certification and signalling review. During a supervision tour, the President emphasised the project not only fulfils a major commitment but will drastically cut the journey time from two and a half hours to just forty minutes, directly benefiting thousands of daily commuters.

«As we promised, we have now finished the civil works for the Mexico City-Toluca ‘El Insurgente’ Train, and practically all the electromechanical work is done; the testing period is beginning now,» declared the President. This rigorous process is vital to ensuring its optimal commissioning and operation. Furthermore, President Sheinbaum announced the November launch of the Juanacatlán to Observatorio section of Metro Line 1, highlighting Observatorio Station as historically the most important in the country. Its unique design will facilitate the connection of various mobility systems, including the Metro, the train, and public and intercity transport.

The Governor of the State of Mexico, Delfina Gómez Álvarez, hailed the project as a «mega mobility undertaking», stressing its profound social benefits. She guaranteed this safe and affordable transport would go beyond mere connectivity, directly enhancing the quality of life for mexiquenses (State of Mexico residents). By significantly reducing commuting times, citizens will be able to spend more time with their families, which, in turn, translates into improved mental health and general well-being. For her part, the Head of Government of Mexico City, Clara Brugada Molina, expressed gratitude for the intergovernmental and business coordination that delivered the Observatorio Complex, which she dubbed «the great western gateway to the city».

In addition to the announcements, Andrés Lajous Loaeza, head of the Railway Transport Regulatory Agency (ARTF), offered vital operational details regarding the service. The «El Insurgente» Train, on its full route from Zinacantepec to Observatorio, will operate with twenty trains, enabling the movement of up to 140,000 passengers daily, thereby bolstering transport infrastructure. This mass transit connection will link the Toluca Metropolitan Area with the Metropolitan Area of the Valley of Mexico by connecting with Metro Lines 1 and 12, Cablebús Line 3, the RTP (Passenger Transport Network) from Observatorio Central, and the Poniente Bus Terminal, consolidating a major metropolitan transport hub.
