#Naucalpan#StateOfMexico.- The municipal government of Naucalpan has inaugurated the sixth project under its ambitious ‘La COMUNA’ programme on Corregidora Street in the Valle Dorado neighbourhood. This significant intervention follows similar works launched by Mayor Isaac Montoya Márquez in collaboration with local residents across Rincón Verde, Izcalli Chamapa, San Antonio Zomeyucan, Santiago Tepatlaxco, and Las Huertas 3rd Section. The programme is designed to tackle historic infrastructure deficits through community workdays and shared resources.

Mayor Montoya Márquez emphasised that ‘La COMUNA’ seeks to address long-standing issues through community labour, where neighbours voluntarily contribute their workforce. In turn, the municipal council supplies all the necessary materials and technical assistance required to complete these crucial actions. This collaborative model is central to the administration’s strategy for rebuilding community cohesion and infrastructure across the municipality.

The current intervention focuses on the first stage of resurfacing Corregidora Street, specifically between Moctezuma and Cuauhtémoc streets. Works will include demolition and debris collection, followed by the construction of concrete slabs reinforced with electro-welded mesh, achieving a durable 15 cm thickness for optimum performance. The Mayor stated that this model «appeals to that reservoir of values, that neighbourhood organisation, that social conscience» to collectively restore the community.

For this sixth project, covering 82 linear metres and a surface area of 656 square metres, the municipal government is supplying cement, sand, and gravel, alongside machinery such as a backhoe and road grader. Simultaneously, the Mayor announced plans to carry out a ‘La COMUNA’ project in every one of the Santiago Tepatlaxco barrios, focusing on the most relevant needs identified by the residents.

Furthermore, the administration is extending its efforts, having also undertaken significant works in Las Huertas 1st Section on Pensamiento Street, «rescued after years of abandonment». There, as in Valle Dorado, the municipality provides all materials while the residents provide the labour, reinforcing «the ties of management and community integration». Mayor Montoya also recognised the productive collaborative work being carried out with the adjacent Jilotzingo municipal government to jointly improve the quality of life across both communities.
