IMSS Joins Mega Vaccination Drive to Boost Winter Health Protection / @zoerobledo @Tu_IMSS >>>
#MexicanSocialSecurityInstitute, #Mexico.- The Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) is actively participating in a major vaccination drive at the Mega Vaccination Centre established by the Health Sector at Ciudad Universitaria (University City), aiming to protect the public from the heightened risk of respiratory illnesses during the winter season. Over the course of the campaign, the IMSS is committed to administering a total of 85,000 doses to the public to strengthen collective immunity against prevalent seasonal threats. This concerted effort underscores the unwavering commitment of health institutions to ensuring timely and widespread access to «life-saving vaccines» for all citizens, particularly as colder temperatures arrive.
Between November 10th and 14th, the IMSS component of the drive is scheduled to administer 25,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine (Moderna), 25,000 doses against seasonal influenza, 25,000 doses of the pneumococcal vaccine, and 10,000 doses of the MMR (Measles, Mumps, and Rubella) vaccine. This comprehensive vaccination package will be delivered by a highly skilled team of 50 staff, including vaccinators, coordinators, supervisors, and nurse managers, operating in continuous shifts to guarantee an efficient, safe, and high-quality service throughout the week. The campaign’s extensive coverage demonstrates the multi-layered strategy being deployed to mitigate potential outbreaks and reduce severe illness across the capital.
During the opening ceremony, which was led by the Secretary of Health for Mexico City, Nadine Gasman Zylbermann, and the Head of the UNAM’s Secretariat of Services and Attention to the University Community, Fernando Macedo Chagolla, both officials agreed that such joint projects are vital for guaranteeing the public has timely access to vaccination, especially during peak risk months. Dr. Rafael López Ocaña, the Head of the IMSS Dispersed Administrative Operation Body (TOOAD) in Mexico City South, stressed that receiving the recommended vaccines «fortifies the immune system, reduces the risk of serious complications, and helps alleviate the burden on health services.» He highlighted that vaccination remains one of the most effective public health strategies for preventing respiratory diseases that typically surge at this time of year.
The Mega Centre has been strategically set up in Car Park 3 of the Estadio Olímpico Universitario (University Olympic Stadium), featuring multiple application stations, secure waiting areas, and an agile registration system designed to minimise waiting times for attendees. The vaccination service is available from Monday, November 10th to Friday, November 14th, between 09:00 and 15:00, and is open to all members of the public, entirely independent of any affiliation with the university community. The public is advised to attend with official identification and, where applicable, their National Health Card to ensure all administered doses are properly recorded against their personal health history.
