#Tlalnepantla#StateOfMexico.- The Tlalnepantla Public Decentralised Body for the Provision of Drinking Water, Sewage, and Sanitation Services (OPDM) has launched a major discount campaign to support the economy of low-income residents and help them settle their outstanding water bills. The municipal government, led by Mayor Raciel Pérez Cruz, is offering a 50% bonus on water service payments for vulnerable contributors with debts from the current fiscal year, 2024, and previous years. This crucial measure, running until 31 December, aims to alleviate financial pressure and boost compliance with essential service payments.

The Director-General of OPDM Tlalnepantla, Alberto Valdés Rodríguez, emphasised that this benefit is specifically targeted at domestic users facing limited resources or situations of vulnerability who have overdue payments, including all legal accessories generated by non-payment. “This comprehensive programme extends eligibility to several vulnerable groups within the community,” he noted. These include pensioners or retirees, minors under 18 in a state of orphanage, persons with disabilities, elderly adults, widows or widowers, and single mothers lacking a fixed income.

The discount is also applicable to individuals whose daily earnings do not exceed two current general minimum wages, as well as to people released through state amnesty. Interested residents must present several documents to prove eligibility: a valid official photo ID (INE, passport, professional licence, INAPAM); proof of residence at the billed property; the water bill or receipt; and official evidence that their income does not exceed the two minimum wages, or an authorised socioeconomic study confirming the lack of fixed income. Applicants must also formally accredit the specific vulnerable group to which they belong.

For more details about the application process or locations, Valdés Rodríguez confirmed that information is available at the organism’s central offices, located at Riva Palacio No. 8, Tlalnepantla Centro, open Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 17:00, and Saturdays from 9:00 to 13:00. Additionally, contributors can visit the Mundo E commercial centre office, on Boulevard Manuel Ávila Camacho, San Lucas Tepetlacalco, open Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 15:30.

The OPDM also operates multiple auxiliary payment and information centres in Tlalnepantla Oriente. Citizens may attend the office at Guillermo Prieto No. 25, San Juan Ixhuatepec; the Caracoles office on Acueducto Avenue, Doctor Jorge Jiménez Cantú; and the La Presa office in the Lázaro Cárdenas neighbourhood. The Director-General urged the public to remain current with their payments, stressing that “their contribution is fundamental to facing the region’s current water crisis and modernising the hydraulic infrastructure necessary to deliver this vital resource to every community.”
